1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on your next request, which is how you stay signed in as you move between pages. Cookies set by this site can only be read by this site.

2. The cookies we use

Scotell sets two cookies, both strictly necessary for the Service to work. Neither is used to profile you or to follow you across other websites.

• __session — holds the authentication token issued when you sign in, so the server can verify who you are on each request. Expires after 24 hours or when you sign out.
• scotell_unlocked — records that you have been granted access to a restricted preview of the site, so you are not asked for the access code again. Expires after 30 days.

3. What we do not use

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any cross-site tracking. We do not load third-party tracking or advertising scripts, and we do not sell or share cookie data with advertisers or data brokers. Because we set no non-essential cookies, there is nothing here to opt out of.

4. Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the two cookies above will prevent you from signing in or staying signed in, because the Service uses them to recognise your session. We do not store your cookie notice acknowledgement in a cookie at all — it is kept in your browser local storage on your device.

5. Other browser storage

Some parts of the app remember small preferences in your browser local storage, such as whether a sidebar is collapsed, whether you have seen an introductory tour, and whether you have acknowledged the cookie notice. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and can be cleared from your browser at any time.

6. Changes to this Policy

If we ever introduce a new cookie, we will list it here and update the date above before it is set. If we ever introduce a non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent first.
